#Chances of getting off waitinglist for virginia tech registration#
Early registration necessary waiting list.

Should I just give up and try attend somewhere else or have hope?Īny feedback would be greatly appreciated. Prepares boys exclusively for MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY and other. Although last year the college accepted way too many students and took zero people off the wait list. There were 3,500 kids put on the wait list this year and I can only imagine what that number is now due to other kids withdrawing their applications. I have made it clear to admissions that I would do anything to attend Virginia Tech in the fall. I have plenty of extracurricular activities including soccer and other sports and working after school. Also, both of my parents are legacy at Virginia Tech. I have gotten great grades my last two years of high school, and have taken classes at my local community college for credits and to prove that I can do well in a college setting like Virginia Tech. Although these are quite low for Virginia Tech's standards, I really wanted them to notice my upward trend in grades during my junior and senior years. With the D's on my transcript it has left me with a 3.5 GPA and I have a 1080 SAT score. It also seems reasonable to assume a higher percentage of Top 10 and Ivy League schools use a waitlist than public state colleges. Unfortunately, I had a slip up during my freshman and sophomore years in high school and being the idiot that I am, I got a couple D's on my transcript. The NACAC report also suggests that 48 of private post-secondary institutions use waitlists while only 34 of public colleges and universities used this strategy for admissions. I was put on the wait list for the class of 2020, and was looking for some advice from fellow Hokies in hopes of cheering me up. At the most selective institutions, that figure was 7. Half of the students offered a spot on a waitlist accepted it, and colleges on average admitted 20 of students off the waitlist. Virginia Tech has been my dream school since the day I was born and I don't see myself at any other college. According to a 2019 National Association for College Admissions Counseling report, 43 of colleges use waitlists. I am a high school senior that applied to Virginia Tech back in October of 2015.
